RSC choose Digital Theatre+ as a distributor for the canon
Digital Theatre+ (DT+), a leading online education platform for English and the performing arts, announces the release of the first 13 productions from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) new canon. Available on DT+ from 11 December, 2017.
The first 13 productions include: Simon Russell Beale in The Tempest, Paapa Essiedu in Hamlet, Michelle Terry in Love’s Labour’s Lost and Antony Sher in King Lear.
These contemporary productions will complement the 130+ curriculum-linked Shakespeare resources, created in collaboration with world-leading academics and practitioners, already available on DT+.
Jacqui O’Hanlon, Director of RSC Education, said: “RSC Education is committed to giving as many people as possible the chance to see and experience our work and these platforms each give access to millions of teachers and students in over 65 countries worldwide. These new streaming partnerships provide a cost-effective way for schools and universities to access high-quality cultural experiences.”
Fiona Lindsay, who leads the development of DT+’s education and performance content, commented: “Our mission is to make the performing arts accessible to all, irrespective of social, economic or geographic circumstances. Our partnership with the RSC will broaden access to these world-class Shakespeare productions and the RSC’s stellar educational resources. Sitting alongside our extensive audio-visual and written Shakespeare resources, we believe this new partnership reinforces DT+ as a must-have Shakespeare resource for schools, colleges and universities.”
DT+ provides more than 1,150 schools, colleges and universities, and three million students, in 65 countries, with access to 795 hours of curriculum-linked, audio-visual content, and 8,150 pages of bespoke, written resources.
